Wicked The Musical

The Musical Wicked has recently been setting several box-office records all across the globe. It has been the centre of attention and has achieved much critical acclaim and has managed to gather a fanatical cult following. This musical has been based on a novel of the same name that had been authored by the very talented Gregory Maguire back in the mid nineties, in the year 1995 to be precise.
According to a consensus that had been reached at The Regulator Bookshop located in Durham, it is not that great. This group had been headed by the author John Kessel who authors books belonging to fantasy and fiction genre.
According to Kessel he had been much fascinated by the difference between the musical’s plot and that of the book. He believes that the producers who have produced the musical have many smart decisions, one of them being the different ending of the musical. The musical has a happy ending whereas the book had a tragic ending. This is believed to be one of the reasons that it has been so popular.
But one thing that the book has going for it is that it “taps into a gusher of cultural capital” regarding its subject. It is very hard if not impossible to visualize the Western popular culture exclusive of the Scarecrow searching for a brain, the Tinman who is looking for a heart, Judy Garland who is singing the song “Somewhere over the Rainbow” or the witches.

The Wizard of Oz can be best described as a representation of the good and the evil in form of Glinda who is the Good Witch of the South Elphaba, who is the bad with of South West. The clever thing about the plot of the musical “Wicked” is that the aforementioned witches are friends and also competitors in college. In Kessels words at certain points in the musical it shows that it has more heart than the book itself. The relationship that exists amid Elphaba and Glinda has been given more emphasis. Like for instance how they shared the same room, and how they were rivals but also mirror images of each other in college have been given more weightage.

The musical “Wicked” has been authored by Maguire who has made Glinda and Elphaba into romantic rivals for attracting the attention of the same man. Buy the Wicked Tickets, Wicked Broadway Ticktes, Wicked Cheap Tickets at the low rates.
